One of the most frustrating things about doing basic sysadmin work is having to move from one computer to the other in order to take care of updates and various configuration items. For a long time I have relied on software like Apple's Remote Desktop application to give me the access I needed. But after years have either paying for or having access to a Remote Desktop license, I have recently found myself without. Fortunately, most all servers support the VNC protocol for remote desktop work including Apple. Unfortunately there have not been any great VNC client out there that were either free or low cost - until now. I have been using Chicken of the VNC software for some time now, but lately have found that on new Ubuntu boxes, it is almost worthless. Slow slow and more slow. The cursor does not refresh properly, the login is slow. Everything about it just sucks. So I did some searching today on Google and found this incredible new VNC App called JollyFast VNC. All I can say is wow! A great little application with lots of options. It is still in BETA at this time, but overall I have been incredibly impressed. Shoot over and take it for a spin. If you like it as much as I did, kick the developer a few bucks, it will save you time an money!
