The Darfur Dream Team is a dynamic partnership of organizations and professional basketball players working together on the Sister Schools Program, an initiative linking American middle schools, high schools and universities with schools in 12 Darfuri refugee camps in eastern Chad. The team's mission is to provide a quality education to every refugee child from Darfur and develop personal connections between students from Darfur and the United states that promote mutual understanding. The Darfur Dream Team was started following NBA star Tracy McGrady’s trip to the Darfuri refugee camps. After spending days hearing the harrowing stories of young Darfuris and of their incredible thirst for a better education, he decided to act and the Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools Program was born.
The County Health Rankings are a key component of the Mobilizing Action Toward Community Health (MATCH) project. MATCH is a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. This website provides access to the 50 state reports, ranking each county within the 50 states according to its health outcomes and the multiple health factors that determine a county’s health. Each county receives a summary rank for its health outcomes and health factors and also for the four different types of health factors: health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors, and the physical environment. Each county can also drill down to see specific county-level data (as well as state benchmarks) for the measures upon which the rankings are based. The website serves as a place where people from all sectors can find Rankings data, as well as action steps and the latest news about the multiple factors that determine our health.

Leonard moved beyond the traditional ways of presenting law firm content which is organized by biographies, industries and practice areas. The social Drupal content management system permitted the firm to “tag” all content. This permitted Leonard to create pages about any issue or topic, making the content increasingly relevant, accessible and targeted to their visitors. In addition to these advantages, site managers were given the ability to associate different types of content with practice areas and industries. For example, viewing an attorney’s biography, one could easily access any resources they had authored or were mentioned. Likewise, while viewing an article or news update, the authors and/or attorneys mentioned as well as categories associated with it appear as visible links. Building Design + Construction and Housing Zone are trade publications serving the construction and home building industries. When B2B publisher Scranton Gillette acquired these publications they got the content but not the websites. Using Drupal, the sites were completed in under 90 days with design & development teams collaborating closely with the client.
There was a “shockingly little” amount of custom code that had to be written. Instead, developers utilized out-of-the-box Drupal functionality and a variety of modules to pull in great amounts of content and shape it into accessible pages. Plans include using XML to export information to newsletters, custom print styles, and a mobile version of the site. The comparatively small amount of post-launch tasks and revisions speaks to the project’s process: having the content up front more than made up for not having an existing website to reference, allowing for a turnaround time that could only have happened in an atmosphere of clarity, content focus, and cooperation that characterized Duo’s work with Scranton Gillette.

The audience is consumers and small businesses interested in banking. We chose Drupal as the CMS because of the different types of modules available. Drupal had the best selection of modules for this type of client.

Working closely with a team in the U.S. and the U.K.'s marketing agency, i-KOS (http://www.i-kos.com) were asked to replicate the existing American version of the site (built using Oracle for over $1m), on a different platform (Drupal) with a fraction of the budget on hand.
The resulting site has allowed i-KOS to extend the functionality and allow the U.K. team to carry out their own marketing initiatives, and to make all content updates themselves. After the successful migration of the website to an anglicized version, work has continued at a hectic pace to keep up with the strong customer demand.

Uncommon Schools serves over 5,000 students with 28 schools in three states, with an aggressive goal to expand their unique brand of teaching to serve an increasingly larger population. To support their mission, they needed a website that

· Explained their mission and methods to parents and students
· Promoted their mission to potential supporters
In addition, the schools they manage each needed a web presence. It was important that each managed school’s site be consistent with the Uncommon brand, sharing not just visual branding but also common content with the parent site.
OHO Interactive built 17 sites in all, with some schools sharing a district site. We developed a website strategy with a strong recruitment focus, for attracting both new teachers and new students. Telling the story of why Uncommon Schools is special with compelling visuals was paramount. But behind the messaging, it was equally important to provide a strong technical backbone to site, so it could expand in the years to come.
OHO completed the seventeen websites with a very aggressive timeline—the visual design and information architecture, site build, and back-end integration took just over 8 weeks.
The main site features videos of the Uncommon Schools’ teaching method in action and wonderful candid photography telling the story of these innovative institutions. It also includes:

But then I've understood Wordpress is not enough, and prepared migration to drupal 5, So there was Drupal 5(wirh Zen classic theme), Drupal 6 with my brainstorm theme(drupal.org/project/brainstorm). And now I hav drupal 7 with custom html5 theme based on omega. I use 3 own written modules for now: advanced_autocomplete (see search form autocomplete) - not published now, imagefield_tagfilter - published drupal.org/project/imagefield_tagfilter and path_extend - to make paths on site more beautiful. For now I thimk about to make english version of some articles, but I've not decided yet how to do that. I don't like how does this made in core(e.g. if used path - instead of something like en/product for translated node you get /node/xxx. So It breaks paths and I'm thinking about make subdomains or some other solution.

Relaunching the web site of Olympiacos FC, the most popular football club in Greece - definetely in terms of number of fans, is not an easy task. You have to take under consideration the different characters of thousands of their fans, personal taste and choices of its management team, its long and full of significant accomplishments history, and of course the need for a brand new, easy to use and navigate web site, able to continuously inform a great number of target audiences such as its fans in Greece and abroad, press representatives, sports specialists, football players and managers, sponsors.
We spent a lot of time thinking and sketching almost all of the different sections of the web site, focusing on the Team page, art directing players' photo shooting in order to ensure that we could create the experience we had visioned for full team and each individual player pages, the History page where we thought that it deserved a navigation pattern of its own that's why we created a unique photo and video gallery for each decade of team's history, the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium page with a detailed presentation of its installations, its stores, its restaurants, accessing routes as well as a valuable seating plan giving the opportunity to check out seating viewing angles before a visitor buys a match ticket.
On the technology part, we based our implementation once again on Drupal, creating all necessary content types, using or developing a number of modules to handle back end needs such as a specialized video player or fetching data through various external feeds, and of course using all bells and whistles in front end theming so our web developers could bring to life what our designers dreamed.

We started working on ILOVEGR project at the end of the summer 2009 under a very tight schedule. You see, when you work for a TV Show there is an absolute deadline: THE LAUNCH DATE! The first version of ilovegr.gr was built on WordPress and a custom video oriented theme, since the main content attraction was video clips from 100 destinations all over Greece. However, community participation and local interest were high in our priority and features list. This first web site also hosted a complex and demanding voting process, gathering TV Show viewers' votes for destinations sent through SMS, over the phone or on the Internet. Later the same year, we deployed a totally redesigned final version of the web site based on Drupal. Each of the 100 selected destinations got its own home page gathering comments, friends, photographs and videos as well as a red heart spotting its position on the map. Using Google maps for navigation, or our we-are-really-proud-of-it destinations drop down menu, the user can walk through destinations, read useful facts and information about them, dive into a large number of valuable user generated comments and rate a number of qualitative metrics such as hospitality, value for money, food and more.

Although Gazzetta.gr is one of the newest Greek sports portal, it gained popularity and loyal readers very quickly getting to #3 sports portals in Greece serving almost 250.000 unique visitors and 2.200.000 pageviews per day! The site was recently migrated after almost 3 years of its initial launch to Drupal, incorporating a number of new features and a much cleaner design and information architecture. Continuous information coverage, blogs from popular athletes and journalists, live coverage of several International and Greek League games, full coverage of local interest leagues, as well as a number of commentary columns. Our mini data center is again behind AKAMAI CDN in order to guarantee spikes of 6.000 hits/sec or an average response time of 6 sec from all over the world, which are really extreme numbers for a non CDN supported web installation.

Pueblo's activity calendar is the central repository for events across organizations in the county. The website of "Schweizer Illu" shows how Drupal's flexible framework can be customised for very specific needs. Overall, the site utilises more than 163 contributed modules from the Drupal framework. Its developers contributed themselves more than 35 custom modules with additional functionality, such as a custom Dashbord, a mobile site and an iPhone application.

Launched in Mai 2001, the community grows by 250 members every year, allowing former students across different disciplines and regions to stay in touch and expand their professional network after graduation. The site is an example for Drupal's ability to structure large numbers of users and activity. As part of its service, alumnium.net runs a mentoring programme, connecting alumnis with 470 mentors across 367 organisations and 25 regions. The overall group activity focuses on interests and regions, enabling its members to create and join groups based on professional interest or local position. In addition to classic community features, alumnium.de provides an internal job portal, manages and informs about events or awards and publishes periodic newsletters.
CFO World is an economic magazine targeting financial managers across all industries. The site reaches in the German-speaking area between 40 000 and 50 000 readers per month. CFO world switched to Drupal in 2009, when it was looking for a stable and flexible open source solution that allows to publish information quickly. The site was set up and launched within eight weeks and extended further ever since with custom functionality. CFO World includes community features, social media integration and various mobile versions or applications that are accessible on different devices such as iPad or iPhone. In addition to its newsletter system, the magazine developed a custom newsservice to spread its news more quickly. It also integrated additional databases for features such as the Whitepaper archive, where readers can download statistics and facts on relevant financial issues. CFO World is operated by the International Data Group (IDG), which publishes more than 300 magazines in 85 countries.
Radio DRS is Switzerland's largest radio station and owned by Edipresse, an international Media company publishing more than 200 magazines and newspapers in Europe and Asia. Swiss online activities represent a significant part of Edipresse's online revenue and since 2007 Drupal is an integral part of their revenue strategy. Within only 18 months the corporation switched its entire IT infrastructure to Drupal and relaunched the online platform of 11 magazines, including flagships like 24heures.ch or femina.ch. After a successfull test phase with 1, 000 000 page views on the first three sites, Edipresse entered its industrial phase in 2008. It launched 8 further online magazines that took an average of 40 days to produce. Apart from editorial content, Berliner.de provides an event planner, location-based search and an archive. Following the motto "From Berliner for Berliner", the community feature allows registered users to publish own articles, create photo slideshows, suggest and review events or places and communicate with other members of the site. Berliner.de counts 25 000 to 30.000 visits and 45 000 to 60.000 Page Impressions per month. The portal is operated by BerlinOnline Stadtportal GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary enterprise of BV Deutsche Zeitungsholding.

The business network connects companies, regions and people on a local level, using Drupal's community functionality. Features include an internal messaging system, a bookmarking tool for news or expert reports and automatic RSS-feeds. Since its relaunch in 2009, the site also integrates the formerly separate platform of the award "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes". The interest group iGZ is the strongest association of employers in Germany, connecting more than 4 000 members in its network. The organisation switched to Drupal in 2009 because of Drupal's stable framework and scalability. Since relaunch, the traffic on ig-zeitarbeit.de multiplied tenfold, increasing from around 150 000 page visits per month to more than 1,3 million page visits in September 2011. Especially iGZ's job newsletter and RSS-feeds prove to be extremely popular, resulting in 1000 clicks or more from one minute to another. In order to meet its needs, iGZ extended the Drupal framework using existing and custom modules. ig-zeitarbeit.de serves both as a network for its members as well as a knowledge data base for users. The granular permission and tagging system in Drupal allows iGZ to structure its secured intern area and administer access to (sensitive) information depending on user role or affiliation. The site is linked with iGZ's internal member database. This allows users to search for people within the association (eg based on postcode) and it facilitates administration as all information immediately updates across the network. In addition, iGZ offers a shopsystem, workshop management and extended Drupal's social media integration. Users can now create groups on facebook or twitter and administrators have the ability to controle all activity from within the site.

Unsere-deutsche-Einheit.de is an online dialogue on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Germany's reunification after the Fall of the Wall in 1989. The Federal Governments' delegate for the new Länder invited witnesses of the event to actively participate in the debate by sharing their memories and opinion. From 9th January to 9th February 2009, 225 users uploaded photos, videos and published more than 400 articles that give a personal account of their experience and are still accessible on the site. Overall, more than 7 000 users visited the platform in the course of the dialogue. Unsere-deutsche-Einheit.de was picked up by various national media outlets in Germany and France, increasing public awareness of past, present and future opportunities and problems around the German reunification.

In addition to classical library search, Jacobs University offers targeted applications and services that facilitate their students' life - from finding people, quotations or references to helping them managing lunch.
Online-Campus.net is an e-learning platform for students of the University Duisburg-Essen. International students from all continents use the site to study and acquire a Masters degree in a one-year distance learning programme. Online Campus.net is an example how the modular content management framework Drupal can be used to flexibly solve specific use-cases and build a custom service. Online-Campus.net makes use of Drupal's multimedia functionality to run courses using audio, video, illustrations, podcasts or interactive media. Students run their own blogs in order to reflect on their learning process and teachers test their knowledge using Drupal's quiz module. Even though there are ready-made solutions for e-learning platforms available on the market, the university decided to launch its platform in Drupal. The main reason for this decision was Drupal's focus on community features, its high degree of innovation (esp. in terms of Web2.0 functionality) and the broad repertoire of available contributed modules. Online-Campus.net extended Drupal's core functionality contributing a timing device for teaching materials, which is adapted to different time zones of its students. It also developed a way to clone complete courses in order to facitlitate future workflows and save time. The University Duisburg-Essen runs further Drupal websites. Those sites include the homepage of the faculty for media didactics, which also serves as an intranet, and ruhrcampusonline.de, which connects the e-learning programmes and activities of the Universities in Bochum, Dortmund and Duisburg-Essen.

Mpib-Berlin is the official site of the Max-Planck Institute for Human Development and provides access to information about the institute, research projects or publications. The German Institute relaunched its webplatform in 2011, replacing its entire infrastructure by Drupal. In the course of the process, the number of servers were cut down from 7 to 2 (+1 backup). The new server environment does not only save development time and increase the performance of the site, it also reduces IT costs. The site offers elaborate editorial content and search tools that enable users to digg deep into its archives. In the publication area users can filter for publications or access and subscribe to RSS-feeds. The media section files press material and research news that can be filtered by year or research area. The platform is also connected to the external library system of the Max-Planck-Society, allowing users of the department to search for publications from within the site. All search functionality is implemented using Apache Solr- a powerful search tool that displays results dynamically depending on the query. This method makes searching more time-saving and relevant for the user. The site also includes the intranet for the Max-Planck-Institute. The intranet is realised as a three-level staging system, so that only dedicated content gets published on the web.

The site aims at providing in-depth information around the concert hall "Tonhalle", while being straight-forward and easy to use for those only interested in accessing its service. Accordingly, Tonhalle.de provides editorial content about musicians or orchestras, a calender system with information about upcoming events and a ticket booking system. Tonhalle.de has around 50 000 visitors per month and sells every season around ten thousand tickets. The platform is connected to junge-tonhalle.de, a music platform specially dedicated to young people. Both platforms are operated by the Düsseldorfer Symphonieorchester, one of the most recognised symphonie orchestras in Germany.
Mitreden-U is the German government's first online communication platform for civic participation. It was initiated by the German Federal Environment Ministry and invited people to express their opinion and influence the political agenda. The key question for the online discussion was: "Which environmental topics need to get more attention, where is urgent need for action?" Over the period of one month (17.2. - 26.3.2010), 1 533 people proposed and discussed topics, creating 1022 articles, 4 456 comments and 8 337 votes on articles of other members. At the end of the online dialogue, a selected number of participants was invited to a discussion round with experts, association representatives and members of the Federal Environment Ministry. Mitreden-U received public interest, reaching 1 300 visitors on day one and 26 718 visitors overall.
San Diego Zoo Global is a not-for-profit organization that operates the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. The Zoo was founded on October 2, 1916, by Harry M. Wegeforth, M.D. It currently has a 12-member Board of Trustees headed by Frederick A. Frye, M.D.; Douglas G. Myers is the Zoo's executive director. San Diego Zoo Global is the largest zoological membership association in the world, with more than 250,000 member households and 130,000 child memberships, representing more than a half million people. San Diego Zoo reached out to VML to design a site superficially for kids. . VML designed and developed the kids site and the system was deployed within the San Diego Zoo environment with their help. To keep the site “kid” focused the design included large navigation, images and font sizes to keep kids engaged. The copy provided by San Diego Zoo is fun and entertaining. The partnership continues with the Kids Doodle site (http://kids.sandiegozoo.org/activities/zoodles/create).

We relied on the jQuery Cycle plugin to add interactivity to the front page, specifically the 'Spotlight' and 'History of Firsts' carousels. One of the assets of Cycle is the plugin's relative indifference about the code it manipulates. This matters for accessibility, since we want to avoid using inappropriate tags anywhere in our code. The DRES Spotlight carousel provided us with a few nice examples of how to produce ARIA-friendly cycles and how screen readers parse this code for their users.

Cy Vance, the District Attorney of Manhattan is a recognized leader in criminal justice reform and wished to build an online footprint that reflected the vision and thought behind his campaigns and initiatives, and that was dynamic to use and update. The Manhattan DA office website would be a critical method of communicating with the wide stakeholders of the New York County and beyond. Icreon Tech developed the website for the New York County’s District Attorney’s Office in collaboration with design partner Double Space.
Solution: The primary objective of recreating the website was to build an essential and up to date resource for the various stakeholders and partners of the DA office. This translated to a need to independently organize and publish various content, including press releases, articles, images and videos, in multiple languages, including Spanish and Chinese, on a regular basis.
In view of these unique requirements, Icreon selected Drupal to build a customized CMS driven website that would provide a one-stop-shop information portal on the New York County, enabling this relevant news to be shared independently by the team at the DA office. The website allows the DA office staff to easily administer and mobilize huge amounts of data including:

Ashland City Schools is a public K-12 institution in Ashland, Ohio. Their web site was moved from a third-party vendor site to a Drupal environment by the web development team at Tri-County Computer Services Association in Wooster, Ohio.
The three-person web team at TCCSA not only creates web sites for its member schools, but also trains editors and provides support for issues that arise in the 27 school districts it supports, 16 of which have been migrated to a Drupal presence.

The Dutch associations of General Practitioners NHG and LHV approached One Shoe Open Source Webdevelopment with an idea for a community platform, combined with a personal dashboard. After a lengthy and extensive period of functional design, graphic design, development, testing and optimization with almost 300 test subjects, the platform launched in November 2011.
The community part of the platform would facilitate groups of members (General Practitioners), their assistants and professional groups within their ranks, in sharing knowlegde and documentation. Also, the community platform would facilitate interaction and direct contact between members, much like LinkedIn, Facebook and other social platforms do. Users have profiles, can connect with other users, join groups and interact within groups and among members.
The Dashboard part of the platform is much more a personal tool than part of the community. This part has much resemblance with Netvibes and iGoogle, in the sense that it has a widgetstore and users can configure their own personal dashboard, using drag & drop. The dashboard also has tabs, so users can categorize their widgets by theme, application or purpose. For instance, there can be a tab "news", to centralize RSS updates and professional news. There can be a tab "consulting hour" to gather all tools a General Practitioner uses during consultations with patients, and so on.
What makes the project special for the developers of One Shoe is that it is much more than a website; it's a tool. An application. And fully based on Drupal, albeit for a large part also based on modules that were developed by One Shoe. For instance the dashboard; there are the Drupal modules homebox and dashboard, but these do not offer all the features this cliënt requested. Features such as a widgetstore, the use of tabs, drag & drop, integration of the dashboard with the Drupal nodes of the community platform, and so on. So One Shoe developed a new module that combined all these features.
The Dashboard is one of many examples of this showcase where existing Drupal modules just didn't deliver all the features. One Shoe in such cases alsmost always prefers to develop a new module, instead of altering existing modules, because altering an existing module would rule out the benefits of security updates.
Within one month after launch more than 30% of all Dutch General Practitioners registered (>3000) and more than 1000 users are online simultaneously on a daily basis. The hosting is set up as a double Linux based Xen Host with per host 1 CPU, 1Gb of RAM and the hosts are connected through load balancing.
